It’s now February and the Clandestine Cake Club is fully up and running. We had intended to hold this particular event in a perfect location down the cobble streets of Leeds City Centre. However, even the best laid plans can change at the very last minute.
With a frantic search for another suitable location I decided to hold the event at The Secret Tea Room. I wasn’t going to cancel, one member was travelling from Edinburgh.

Not wanting to give the location of the Tea Room away, I sent directions via email of the Local Station and directions to the house.

One by one the cakes began to arrive. First a huge chocolate cake with chocolate truffles on top  followed by a delicious light milk chocolate cake. So light you could eat two slices. But I wanted to pace myself there were plenty more cakes to try that afternoon.

We drank China Oolong leaf tea from Bean and Bud and Breakfast and Earl Grey from York Coffee Emporium

A couple of members were celebrating a birthday and it was nice to see a birthday cake complete with candles. This I hear is a practice cake for a members wedding in April this year. As with all the cakes we had yesterday, it was delicious.

Note: One guest found himself so full of tea and cake that he fell asleep on a comfy sofa whilst we all chatted. What a complement that is. The identity of the guest will remain a secret within the four walls of The Secret Tea Room.
