Dundee – Getting Fruity
April 29, 2012 11:14 am in Dundee by Jacqueline Meldrum

We were all excited to attend our first Clandestine Cake Club here in Dundee. The first meeting was on Sunday 15 April 2012 at Whitehalls Bar & Grill in Dundee city centre. Eight bakers and their guests turned up for our first meeting.
There was an air of excitement as we stood in the balcony, getting to know each other and gazing on all the wonderful creations while a live jazz band played gently in the background. Such a good collection of really nice people all excited to talk about cake and to meet each other.I can’t think of a nicer way to spend a Sunday evening.
Our first theme was Getting Fruity and our bakers rose to the occasion, there was a real variety of cakes. A White Fruit Cake, a Date
& Orange Ring, a Flourless Chocolate & Raspberry Brownie Cake with Creme Fraiche, a White Chocolate, Blackberry, Rose &
Lavender Cake, a Blueberry & Raspberry Sour Cream Cake with Cheesecake Frosting, a Victoria Sponge with Strawberry Filling, a St Clements Cake and a Hummingbird Cake with Pineapple. There was a bit of a competition to see who could try the most cakes and it was a challenge. There is only so much cake you can eat, no matter how delicious it is. We invited other diners and staff to dig in too, so everyone went home happy.
Roll on the next meeting.
