Halloween Tricks & Autumn Treats

With Halloween just gone & Autumn well & truly here, the Oxford CCC members decided that our November meeting should be inspired by halloween & all things autumnal. We met in the lovely Cafe CoCo in central Oxford, who have kindly accommodated our group several times & happily receive a plate full of cake at the end of the evening.

It was great to see everyone’s individual interpretation of the theme &, as ever, we had a great range of cakes to sample. This month we had nine bakers & three guests who made a ginger & chocolate graveyard cake, complete with chocolate gravestones & fondant pumpkins, a traditional parkin cake, a toffee apple cake with warm toffee sauce, an apple & blackberry sponge cake, a moist chocolate layer cake sandwiched with cream & jam, an apple fudge cake with cream cheese frosting, a tasty pecan & butterscotch crumb cake, an apple cake in the shape of a halloween pumpkin & an impressive bonfire cake with matchmakers & chocolate fingers as sticks & orange icing shards as flames. You can see a selection of the cakes below:


After a fantastic evening, we departed full of cake, with plenty of leftover slices to take home & share with our families (& in my case, eager colleagues who are always excited for our coffee break the day after a CCC event!). Here’s to the next Oxford meeting!

    Wow that looks amazing, I’m so sorry (for myself!) I couldn’t make this meeting as a new member but really hope to meet everyone at the next one, I especially love the Bonfire cake. Inspired!!!
