A hunt for the longest married couple, to celebrate with The Arch Café and Leeds Clandestine Cake Club

Were you married in St John’s the Evangelist on Briggate? Can you help us find a couple who were? Do you or your family have photos of weddings that took place in St John’s? We would love to hear from you.

The Arch Café would like to help the romantics amongst you celebr

ate Valentine’s Day, by launching our new afternoon tea, featuring the delightful cakes of Leeds’ very own Clandestine Cake Club.

In a very exciting collaboration, we are thrilled to help celebrate the launch of the Clandestine Cake Club recipe book, published on Valentine’s Day, by baking some of the amazing recipes for you to enjoy. The Clandestine Cake Club now has members worldwide, but began here in Leeds, and we are so impressed with the cakes that we can’t wait to share them with you!

Reserve a table for your loved one and enjoy a tasty treat in our delightful café. Afternoon tea is £19.95 for two, with a delightful glass of prosecco at £3.95 per glass. Booking essential.

The Arch Café is a Grade II listed building situated in the grounds of Leeds city centre’s oldest church, St John the Evangelist. The church is a magnificent example of seventeenth century architecture and décor, and is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church is open as an historic attraction and venue for art, music, cultural events and educational visits. The Churches Conservation Trust would love to hear from anyone who was married on at St John’s and invites them to come along and revisit those magic moments and have a photo taken in the church. To add to the romance you can leave a message of love on our ‘What you love!’ message board and discover romantic poems scattered through the church. Once you have indulged in romantic memories why not indulge in a delightful afternoon tea at the Arch Café.

In particular, Age UK Leeds are looking for the longest married couple, who married at St John’s to help them celebrate their happy day – do you know who they may be? The lucky couple will receive a tour of the church, and a free afternoon tea and prosecco at the Arch Café. If this is you, contact us and let us help you celebrate!

The Arch Café is serving afternoon tea on Thursday 14th February from 2:30pm, with the last booking at 6pm. Please book a table by contacting the café on 0113 389 3002. Afternoon teas will continue to be served on Friday and Saturday afternoons. All money made by The Arch Café goes to support the work of Age UK Leeds.
