Cooking the books down in Dorset
March 5, 2013 3:26 pm in Dorset by Charlotte
Last night, Dorset CCC met for our March meeting near Wimborne. We had an excellent turnout – over 20 ladies came along from all over the county. This month’s theme was ‘Cooking the books’ to celebrate the launch of the CCC cookery book, and theme was to bake a cake from your favourite cookery book or the CCC book and then to bring the books along too to have a look.
We had several cakes from the CCC book, as well as favourite books written by Mary Berry and Fiona Cairns amongst others. We had so much cake to get through, we all started flagging after two or three slices! Many members have purchased the CCC book and the feedback has been wonderful to hear. You’ll see below some of the cakes from the book which our bakers made.
We had a really wide range of cakes on the night, which included:
St Paddy’s Day Guinness Cake baked by Gina
Lemon drizzle cake, made by Janine
Chocolate honeycomb chocolate cake, from Amanda
Date, ricotta and polenta cake, baked by Hazel
Jemon and poppy seed cake kugelhopf, baked by Jan
Lemon curd sponge, made by Sandra
Battenberg, baked by Charlotte
Orange and pistachio cake, baked by Rachel
Lemon poppy madeira cake, by Zoe
Neapolitan cake baked by Claire
Cherry bakewell, baked by Paula
Amaretto cream cake, made by Cherie and Shannon
Cherry and apricot ring, baked by Janet
Coconut and peach cake with white chocolate frosting baked by Katie
Tiramisu cake, baked by Alison
Lemon Limoncello cake baked by me
Our venue for the evening was the Fox and Hounds pub, near Wimborne, which hosted us so well. Thanks to everyone for coming along and looking forward to next time already!

We really had some fabulous cakes – I’m just sorry I couldn’t eat more!! I loved the Clandestine Cake Book and we had some really impressive cakes baked from it – I can’t wait to get my own copy now:)
