Runcorn & Widnes – Green-Fingered Goodies!

Date: 18/05/2013
Time: 10.30am - 12.30pm
Theme: Green-Fingered Goodies
Now that the sunshine & long evenings are here, it is the perfect chance to get out into your garden. Whether you have a tiny patio herb garden or lovely blooms & shrubs I want you to create a cake inspired by your garden. It could be a rose infused sponge if you grow roses, or a lavender cake if you grow lavender etc. Or you could also dress up a cake with any manner of floral decorations to fit in with the theme!
Venue: Widnes
Additional venue info: Our venue is a large, bright airy and very popular coffee shop/restaurant in Widnes. They will kindly be providing us with an area free of charge, but please support them by buying at least 2 drinks. This is our BEST venue yet, so I really hope as many of you as possible can come along!

Runcorn and Widnes – Love at First Bite!

Date: 07/02/2013
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Theme: Love at First Bite
Since it’s Valentine's season I want you to bake your ultimate cake – the one you fell in love with the first time you had a bite. Will it be a simple but stunning Victoria Sponge or a decadent chocolate cake drenched in chocolate ganache?
Anything goes, so long as you are passionate about it.
Hopefully this will be a good opportunity for us all to discover new favourites!

Venue: Widnes
Additional venue info: As our last 2 events were held in Runcorn, this event will take place over the River Mersey in Widnes. Our venue is a fantastic meeting space for many different local groups – I think we are the first cakey group to meet there though, so let’s show them why we all love cake! Unlimited tea & coffee will be available at a cost of £2 per person. Plenty of free car parking is available and the venue is wheelchair friendly.

Runcorn & Widnes – Nutritious & Delicious!

Date: 24/09/2012
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Theme: Nutritious & Delicious
Here is our chance to show that enjoying a slice (or 2!) of cake doesn't need to be super-fattening or unhealthy.

You can make a lower-fat version of your favourite cake or how about including some fruit or vegetables into your bake?

Have fun experimenting - healthier bakes don't have to be boring!

This event will be part of Halton Council's Foody Fortnight.

Venue: Runcorn
Additional venue info: We have secured a fabulous modern, bright & airy space in a brand new building for this event.
There is plenty of room so we are hoping for a big turn-out to enjoy some yummy cakes!

Runcorn and Widnes – Inherited Indulgences

Date: 30/07/2012
Time: 7pm - 9pm
Theme: Inherited Indulgences
Do you have an old family cake recipe that has been handed down over the years – written on a scrap of paper splattered with butter or in an old cookery book? For the inaugural Runcorn & Widnes CCC we would like you to bake something that has been passed down through your family. So if it’s a special black forest gateau recipe your Mum used to make or Gran’s old chocolate cake recipe bring it along and share your story of what it means to you. There are no restrictions with regards to the ingredients or flavour – just make sure it is a cake!

PS – If you have the original handwritten recipe or the original recipe book why not bring it along to show us.

Venue: Centre of Runcorn
Additional venue info: Come and join us in a rather unique (and some might say nutty!) location in the centre of Runcorn. Want a clue to the venue? ...This might be where a crafty bank robber would hide if his getaway car broke down!

There is plenty of car parking available nearby. Please note this venue is up a flight of stairs on the 1st floor with no alternative access.
