Hello and Welcome to Clandestine Cake
About Lynn Hill
My name is Lynn Hill. I’m an Author, food writer, member of the guild of food writers and a self taught home baker. I founded the Clandestine Cake Club in 2010 – 2018 and the National Cake Week in 2011. National Cake Week has since been sold in 2018.
I think there’s nothing nicer than the smell of fresh home baking which is why I love nothing more than to bake for my family. While I love to create easy to make recipes which are ideal for the home baker I will often review cook books that I’ve used and love. Indulging in afternoon tea is my favourite pastime.
I’ve published two cook books. (Amazon Affiliate links)
I and the Clandestine Cake Club received extensive coverage on international, national and local TV and radio, print and online publications, including:
BBC1’s The One Show, ITV’s Lorraine Show and The Alan Titchmarsh Show, BBC Radio Woman’s Hour and on BBC Radio 4, as well as in The Times, Daily Mail and The Washington Post. A full coverage can be found here
How it all began 2010 – 2018
In 2010 I founded the Clandestine Cake Club and have written a brief history of how it all began. While running the Clandestine Cake Club I was also running The Secret Tea Room (2010 – 2012) in my own home. Total strangers would book a place at my dining room table in my home to enjoy an afternoon tea of home baking. Many of those strangers eventually became friends. It was during this time that I founded the Clandestine Cake Club.
While the offline community has spread its wings into independent groups, I’m now concentrating all my skills and energy into creating wonderful recipes for home bakers. My online Facebook community of home bakers continues to grow bringing people together through their love of baking.
Lindsey one of the organisers of CCC North Herts sums everything up perfectly in her final club post. ‘Thank you for the cake and so much more’
What you will find in Clandestine Cake
I love to create easy recipes for delicious home made cakes and bakes for the home baker. These recipes are tried and tested in my kitchen. With the occasional guest recipe which has been tested by the original creator. Along with cook book reviews, you will also find features on coffee shops, cafes and bakeries. One of my favourite places to visit are NorthStar Coffee Shop in Leeds.
For the teenager who loves to cook and bake or anyone wanting to increase their baking/cookery skills, you will find a list of schools and courses that I’m sure will suit your needs.
If you want to take the next step and turn your baking hobby into a cake business. I have some great guest posts with ideas of how to set up a cake business from home. A good place to start is this post ‘So you want to start a cake business‘
