Winter will be upon us and we all turn to great food to excite us in the dark months as we celebrate a variety of Winter festivals. There are several festivals at this time and you can bake a cake to represent any festival. Christmas, Hannukah, Diwali are religious festivals but there are also many festivals which celebrate the snow and ice. You could bake a cake and build your own ski run on it! Or your cake could be shaped like an igloo! A cake to celebrate Diwali would be very colourful and maybe use fennel seeds for taste? A traditional flavour used to bake for Diwali. Cakes for Hannukah include a honey bundt cake, cinnamon and apple cake or could be a cake decorated with a menorah or dreidle. Christmas cakes come in many varieties, from the traditional to a Creole cake but this could be a madeira sponge with a Christmas decoration on it. the choices are endless. Have fun with your research!
The venue is in the centre of Selby and there is a car park around the back of the venue in a public car park. We ask you to support the venue by buying a drink there.
I will be in Australia when this event takes place but will have pre-booked the venue and am hoping Shirl will do the honours in my absence! Thanks Shirl.
