South East London

St George's day

  • Brockley

Celebrate St. George’s Day with traditional cakes! He is adopted as patron saint of England, of course, but also Georgia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Aragon and Catalonia – this is your opportunity to bring along a traditional bake from one of these countries! You could try a fruity ‘Bolo de Rei’ (King’s Cake) from Portugal, a good old-fashioned ‘Victoria Sponge’ from England (perhaps something more challenging?) or even, if you wanted to make a real showpiece, a ‘La Mona de Pascua’ from Catalan, a real Easter treat… We can’t wait to hear your stories, particularly if you’re using traditional handed-down family recipes.
