Stowmarket Suffolk

A day at Muntons!

  • Muntons malt factory, Stowmarket.

Members, we have the privilege of being the first Clandestine Cake Club to be in invited to Muntons malt factory in Stowmarket. They have very kindly opened their doors for the day and have invited us in for a rare treat. We will all be given a guided tour inside the malt factory...and more!

Who are Muntons?

Muntons are a leading global player in the supply of malts, malt extracts, flours and flakes and many other malted ingredients relevant to the food and drinks industry exporting around half of its production. In addition Muntons also manufacture an extensive range of beer, wine and cider making kits, which are also sold globally.

What will happen on the day?

It will be a very exciting day for all of us and there will be lots of things for us to see, do and taste. Without giving to much away, here is brief highlight of what's planned for us on the day:

* A guided tour throughout the factory.
* Learning about the malt processes and how malt is used in various products.
* Complimentary lunch and refreshments will be provided.
* Demos and getting hands on in their bakery with their professional baker Richard.
* Small complimentary gift and recipe cards.

This is an amazing opportunity for us Stowmarket members and not one to be missed. It will be a brilliant day and a great way to see and understand malt, plus I'm sure this will inspire us for our love of baking. A follow on cake meeting using recipes we were given or shown during our visit to Muntons and celebrating everything malt will take place in the new year. Unfortunatley there just won't be enough to time for all the above and a cake meeting on the same day. So be quick and book your place!

Additional info

* A maximum of 12 places are available, it will be on a first come first serve basis.
* Guests are welcome, however Stowmarket members that want to attend will take priority if spaces are taken up by guests.
* If you cannot attend the event, please inform me straight away or remove your name from the list as soon as possible. This is due to names being passed on to Muntons for health and safety reasons and making room for others to attend.
* Car share or use public transport where possible, as there are only a limited number of allocated parking spaces inside Muntons.
