Possible outside activities for Cake Club

Earlier this month I went to the ‘A Night to Remember’ concert which is run by a guy called Ian Donaghy. He hosts this massive concert to raise money for Altzheimers Society and other local causes.
But he also does something called Xmas Presence where on Christmas Day he gives up his time with a team of people and puts on a massive Christmas party with the full woks of music and food for all the elderly who are on their own, he even has a team of taxi drivers.
Any way every year he is looking for people to get involved and after the concert I was really touched by what he achieves and got in touch with him.
He is looking for people to sell tickets for him next year for the concert, for example I would commit to sell 100 tickets or whatever and sell them.
For this I wondered if I do agree to do that, perhaps the cake club gang would like to do a night out at the barbican and make a proper night of it, partners welcome etc, if I get enough good responses I will commit to selling some tickets but I kinda have to know that I can sell them and people aren’t goign to say yeah that sound sgreat then not buy when the time comes if that makes sense.
The main bit for cake club I thought about was….
Xmas Presence, they look for donations to their christmas dinners by way of hampers, food, goodies, basically everything that you ro I would love at Christmas Day
And guess what….. I thought perhaps we could suggest that each of us baked either 1 or two extra festive cakes and donated them to the event? We’d have to arrange to drop them off somehow but I know myself i usually bake 4 Christmas cakes, one of which won;t be needed this year as the person passed away but I could easily keep baking that one and donate it to them…
What do you think. They are fantastic local causes and I intend to do it but we as a group have huge power for making a difference and could put our favourite hobby to something really positive.
I know its way to early for any commitment now but…. something to think about and I’d appreciate any feedbackMarch 18, 2018 at 6:59 pm #112486
Hi Libbie, this sounds like a really good cause. I’m sorry, I can’t commit to being free for a Christmas concert this early in the year, but I’d love to bake and donate a cake when the time comes xMarch 19, 2018 at 1:40 pm #112535
No that’s absolutely fine I wasn’t looking for commitement right now but I;d say by october time I need to be getting a feel for who might like to go before i commit to selling tickets. we can always just arrange a group night out any way.
