The penultimate event of the North Herts group was our first non-baking event.
Five of us met on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the newly refurbished Farmhouse at Redcoats. We were given a private room, The Old Kitchen, complete with inglenook range and a dresser with jars and jars of different teas on offer.
We spent a lovely couple of hours enjoying the delicious afternoon tea comprising of traditional sandwiches, soft and still-warm scones and dainty cakes including slices of an impressive Opera cake, gooey salted caramel tarts, rhubarb and custard macarons and tiny coffee and walnut choux buns.
Despite not having eaten lunch, we couldn’t eat everything before us and so, in true Cake Club style, we packed up the leftovers to enjoy at home.
