Ingredients

  • White sheet cake (just use your favorite recipe!)
  • Purple & Pink food coloring
  • Plastic shot glasses
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Whipped Cream (optional)
  • Star tip #21 (or #1M if using large glasses)

User your own baking sheet cake recipe, add some buttercream and whipped cream. There you have Cheshire Cat Tails.  Perfect for an Alice in wonderland Tea party.

Method

    1. Prepare your white sheet cake as directed, then add purple food coloring to the cake batter until it turns a deep purple. Pour the batter into a greased 12”x18” pan and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes (times may vary according to your own recipe!) Remove the cake from the pan and let cool for 10 minutes on a baking rack.

    2. The next step is to cut out circles for the tail! I took one of the glasses, and pressed the top down onto the sheet cake in order to measure the correct size. Then, I used a knife to cut out the circles.

    3. Now for the fun part! Take half of your buttercream and add the pink food coloring until the frosting is a light pink. Now, fill a piping bag with the pink frosting and pipe a layer of pink buttercream into the bottom of each individual glass. Then, put a single purple cake circle on top of each frosting layer. Repeat this process once more so that you end up with four “stripes” in each cat tail.

    4. Lastly, finish the top with either a swirl of white buttercream or whipped cream. (I’d recommend the buttercream, myself, unless you’re serving these right away since the whipped cream melts pretty quickly).
