Spring most definitely had sprung at the Worthing group this afternoon. The group has grown again and Dawn and Charlotte were given a warm welcome as we gathered at the Broadwater Starbucks.
During today’s bounty for the ‘Spring has sprung… baking’s begun…again’ theme, we were faced with tasting 10 cakes. A hard task but somehow we struggled through!
Dawn, our newbie gave us a delightful passion fruit with orange flower water and mint tea syrup loaf cake, Gypsy presented a courgette and apple cake, Sassy baked a lemon and poppy seed loaf. Caroline brought a hummingbird cake. I made my first ever Bakewell cake and Lesley took us on a dairy and gluten free trip to Italy with her Venetian Carrot Cake.
Daniel made a wonderful peach and sour cream cake, still warm and fresh from the oven and Julie made a refreshing sponge with fresh fruit and cream. Hazel indulged us with her White chocolate and orange loaf. After all of those, we then devoured Petra’s four layers of citrus sponge with passion fruit curd and chantilly cream. Needless to say not many of us were having a big dinner when we got home!
